ABOUT

Mutts Amazing Hot dogs is located at 1400 NW 23rd St and is a hot dog joint with so many things to offer. They range from classic dogs to dogs that have learned new tricks.

Let’s be frank.

Mutts is the mecca of hot dogs in Oklahoma City. The A-frame hot dog hut is located off of 23rd street. The environment is a mixture of retro and modern styling. Now some of you may be thinking, “what’s so great about a hot dog?” The “dog” has become an American favorite. It’s the perfect companion to a day at the ballpark. It’s a must have at any cookout. But at Mutts, they have transformed this American classic into something more. Their menu does offer the classics, but they also offer plenty of creative options as well. Oklahoma City chefs Cally Johnson and Kathryn Mathis are to thank for reinventing the hot dog and making it a culinary work of art.

There is a process to ordering your dog at Mutts. After walking into the building, stand in line to place your order. They ask that you do not reserve your seat at a table before hand. Now this request may seem weird, and you might want to take matters into your own hands. But trust their process. It works. After you have placed your order and filled up your Mutts cup with an icy brew of your choice, it is now time for you to find a seat. If you are in a hurry, the best time to come to Mutts would be around 11:30a for lunch. Any later and you could spend your whole lunch break standing in line. Even so, it will be worth it. You just might have to eat on your way back to work.

Teaching old dogs new tricks.

Don’t know which dog to get? Here are some dogs worth mentioning.

“The Pitbull” is a dog with some bite. It’s layered with pepper jack cheese, serrano, habanero, jalapeƱo and poblano peppers. It is then toasted for crispiness on the grill.

“The Boardwalk” is a Coney Island classic dog with mustard, chili, cheddar-jack cheese finished off with bits of onion on top.

“The Windy City Dog” is a classically styled dog bread in Chicago. This dog is nestled in a poppy seed bun, yellow mustard, neon green relish, chopped onion, a tomato wedge for show, sport peppers, a pickle spear and dusted with celery salt. It’s a mouthful.

Every dog on the menu is fantastic. These were just a few we personally have sampled and would recommend. The service at Mutts is just as good as the food. A friendly staff welcomes you at the register and is constantly waiting on customers making sure they are well taken care of. If you haven’t been to Mutts. Well, it’s time. What are you waiting for?
