Advocates for the old, unloved and weird
Not only is this Friday Live on the Plaza, but it also coincides with the grand opening of the newest member to the Plaza, The Salvage Room. We had the pleasure of sitting down and talking about this electrifying and matchless new addition with owner, Aimee Daniels.
“Adam, Kelsi, Rachael and I all live in Mayfair Heights and got to know each other through Erin Cooper,” Daniels told us. “After participating and doing well in a weekend neighborhood market, Adam and I were more determined than ever to get out of booth rental at antique stores and into a shop of our own. When we saw Kelsi’s great eye for all things vintage and Rachael’s marketing and leadership, we knew they would be valuable partners. We all began having “band meetings” to slowly discuss our vision and when we heard about a space in the Plaza District opening up, we leapt at the chance. Ten days after getting the space we opened our doors for February’s Live on the Plaza.”
The space that the four were able to obtain is quite charming, located at 1714 NW 16th Street, next to No Regrets Tattoo, the space is intimate and the inventory carefully and meticulously curated by Daniels.
“We each have our own product lines within The Salvage Room: Adam and I are ‘Rags to Relics’ and Kelsi is ‘Trash Treasury Vintage’,” Daniels explained. “Naming our store ‘The Salvage Room’ was very natural to us in the way that we want to restore, re-purpose and redirect the discarded into something odd and beautiful. We are advocates for the old, unloved and weird.”
Daniels herself admitted to tastefully channeling her inner teenage angst when selecting and displaying the items within the shop.
“Our store carries a wide array of products, from vintage décor, furnishings, clothing and apparel to insect collection, skulls and antique medical oddities,” Daniels said. “We try to appeal to the vintage lover as well as people who stray towards the strange.”
. . . we want to restore, repurpose and redirect the discarded into something odd and beautiful. We are advocates for the old, unloved and weird.
With such a wide range and variety of treasures, The Salvage Room truly has a special find for everyone.
“We hope we will bring something different to the Plaza while also maintaining fluidity between the shops,” Daniels said. “We are very excited to be a part of such a welcoming and creative community.”
For those who have already grabbed a sneak peek at the shop, the reactions have been nothing but welcoming. We couldn’t get enough ourselves, during our visit with Daniels; it truly does have a captivating charm, uniquely different from the other stores within the Plaza, yet maintaining a sense of connectedness.
“Our grand opening will take place March 8th during Live on the Plaza,” Daniels continued. “We’ll have wine, food, giveaways and a featured local artist. Until our grand opening, we’ll be open the limited hours of Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 to 6. After the March 8th, we will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 7.”
We encourage any and everyone to stop by and check out what this new addition has, it’s a guarantee you’ll fall in love with something. This quaint shop is bursting with passion and style and WeHeartOKC could not be more excited to welcome Aimee Daniels and the Salvage Room crew to the Plaza District!

It’s unbelievable how many wonderful decorative pieces can be made of the already used material. I work as a fashion designer and in my free time I make similar products from the remnants of my fabrics. I recently discovered a wonderful fabric store here in Toronto called King Textiles where I find everything I need and I have to admit the fabrics are so beautiful there that I sometimes buy a few pieces exclusively for my decorative items.
